2008 Savor New Hope7TH ANNUAL SAVOR NEW HOPE

New Hope Arts will host the 7th Annual “Savor New Hope” event on July 11, 12 and 13, 2008.  The town-wide celebration recognizes the visual, performing and even culinary arts that have brought  national and international attention to this tiny riverside town.    Most events are free and open to the public.  For information or full schedule’s call 215-862-9606.

This year  promises even more events than last year and a variety of new participants offering indoor and outdoor activities for the entire family.  On every block of New Hope visitors will enjoy  performances, concerts, art exhibitions, demonstrations, studio tours and a world class Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition featuring 20 pieces by nationally and internationally recognized sculptors. Mechanic Street will close to vehicular traffic for an Outdoor Photography Show & Sale and later in the day Stockton Avenue will close for Sidetracks Gallery’s Rosenfest.   The New Hope Arts Center on Stockton and Bridge Streets will feature an exhibition, Footprints in the Field, that pays homage to the farm and the re-greening of America and Triumph Brewing Company in Union Square hosts “In Celebration of Food” exhibition.  A Mano Galleries will host a craft exhibition and Topeo will feature hand blown glass artists while PNC Bank will host the work of Eugene Gladston.  New Hope Leather will offer free demonstrations in the art of leather mask making and BOI’s Gallery will host a watercolor demonstration.

There will be lots of activities for children on Saturday July 12 at the tents at Union Square. From 12noon 3pm artists will work with young people in creating their own masterpieces such as fish prints, painted and folded hats, handmade books and hand painted t-shirts. Young people will enjoy music by Eco Man; storytelling by Jane King and other activities by area art camps and organizations such as the New Hope Solebury Library, Ravens Run and the Arts in Stockton will be featured. 

Area musicians will offer entertainment for the entire family at informal outdoor concerts featuring traditional, folk, blues, and bluegrass and world music at various times on Saturday from 12-9pm.  Sounds of Summer can by heard at the Mule Mural on South Main Street, Young Singer Songwriters on Mechanic Street, Jim A at The Celt-Iberia Shop, Fiddlesticks on Stockton Avenue among other performances on Saturday.

Friday late afternoon a wine and cheese reception to meet the artist Gene Gladston will be held at the New Hope Arts Center and guest will continue down the block to enjoy Gladston’s exhibition at PNC Bank.   Throughout the 3 Day weekend area stages such as the Bucks County Playhouse, The New Hope Arts Center, Bowman’s Tavern and John & Peter's will feature a variety of indoor performances and most area galleries will host special exhibitions.  On Saturday night most galleries will remain open till 8PM or later for a Gallery Stroll, hosting artist receptions with refreshments.

Savor New Hope 2008The arts weekend culminates on Sunday evening, July 13 (6:30-9:00PM) with the Savor New Hope Celebration of the Culinary Arts on the grounds of Union Square in New Hope, Pennsylvania.  Some of the finest area chefs and restaurants will personally serve delectable offerings that reflect the diversity and world-class cuisine that the New Hope area is recognized for worldwide.  John & Peter’s, Kathy Bates, Bill Gill, Fabulous Feast/Cravings,  Duck Soup, Mother’s Restaurant, Anton’s at the Swan, Hamilton’s Grill Room, The Stockton Inn, Duck Soup, El Taco Loco, Triumph Brewing Company,  Buckingham Valley Vineyards, New Hope Winery, Marsha Brown  and a number of other  fine area chefs will participate.  This event traditionally sells out and advance tickets are suggested.  Tickets for the Savor Dinner Celebration that include food, spirits, and entertainment are available at the Center for $40 in advance or $50 at the door.  Tickets are also available at 5th Season Home & Garden, 30 W. Bridge Street, Suite 2 in New Hope.  George E. Michael Development Corp. will provide free parking for dinner guests.
